Cybersecurity for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses
Segmentation, firewalls, and secure remote access, configured by people who have spent their careers inside networks that couldn’t go down.
We deploy and support Sophos, Ubiquiti, Microsoft
The uncomfortable thing about small-business security is that most of it’s already paid for and simply not switched on. Firewalls running default rules. A guest Wi-Fi network that’s only a different name and password, with full reach into the office. VPN access for someone who left two years ago. The equipment is usually there. It just needs configuring correctly, and then checking again in six months.
What’s included
Network segmentation
Guests, staff devices, cameras, and point-of-sale each belong on their own segment. If a guest device can reach your file server, you do not have a guest network. You’ve a second password.
Edge firewall protection
Firewall selection, rule design, and ongoing review. Rules accumulate; a rule set nobody has audited in three years is a list of doors you’ve forgotten about.
Secure remote access
Proper VPN access for the people who need it, scoped to what they need, and removed when they leave.
Intrusion detection and prevention
IPS/IDS on the perimeter so unusual traffic is flagged rather than discovered later in a log nobody read.
Identity and access
Multi-factor authentication across Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, sensible admin separation, and an offboarding process that revokes access.
Security testing
Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment, carried out by an EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker rather than outsourced to a scanner and a PDF.
User awareness, included
Practical guidance for your team on phishing and the things that actually catch people out, included with a managed subscription rather than sold as a separate platform. Formal simulated-phishing programs are available if you want one, but most small teams get further from a straight conversation.
Who this is for
Any business holding customer data, taking card payments, or carrying cyber-insurance requirements it isn’t certain it meets.
Questions we get
Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, ask and we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit.
Is our guest Wi-Fi separate from our business network?
Often not. A different network name and password doesn’t create separation on its own. We regularly find guest networks that can still reach office computers, printers, file shares, point-of-sale terminals, and cameras. If guest devices can see your business systems, the exposure is larger than it looks. In most cases the equipment to fix it’s already installed and only needs configuring.
Do you do penetration testing?
Yes, and it is done in-house rather than resold. One of our engineers is an EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker. That said, for most small businesses a configuration and segmentation review finds more real risk than a penetration test does, so we’ll tell you honestly which one you need.
Our insurer is asking about our security controls. Can you help?
Yes. Cyber-insurance questionnaires typically ask about MFA, backups, patching, endpoint protection, and access control. All of which are either already in place or straightforward to put in place. We will go through the questionnaire with you and tell you which answers are currently true.
